Dear OPTP Family,

   The Orangeburg Part-Time Players has endured a number of financial challenges this past year – from COVID-19 shutting the BlueBird Theatre’s doors for many months to the recent break-in at our theater home and our decades-old A/C unit going on the fritz.

   To make up for some of the lost revenue, we held spaghetti dinners and rummage sales, rented out our venue for private events, and hosted movie nights, video game tournaments and Jams. GoFundMe pages were created on our behalf, and individuals sponsored Facebook raffles and birthday fundraisers.

   Beyond that, several local businesses stepped up as show sponsors when we were finally able to return to the stage this spring, while others generously donated money or equipment following our break-in, allowing us to produce five sold-out performances of our summer kids’ show, “Mary Poppins, Jr.”

   As a nonprofit organization, we depend on our very supportive community to keep the theater alive.

   Today, we are asking for your help with a new campaign that we hope will not only generate money for our beloved theater home, but also increase interest and awareness in the OPTP – and be a fun way for you to get involved, too!

   There’s no age limit to submit a video, and you don’t have to be currently involved or living in the area to share with us the impact the OPTP has had on your life. Just fill out the consent form and start filming!

    Videos should be less than 5 minutes long and submitted via Messenger on our BlueBird Theatre, OPTP or JrOPTP Facebook pages. 

   In your video, please introduce yourself and tell us:

• How long you have been/were involved with the OPTP

• How you first heard about the OPTP

• What made you want to get involved in the first place

• What drives/drove your continued involvement

• How you or your life changed because of your involvement with the OPTP

• Something you want people to know about the OPTP

• What a donation to the OPTP would mean for the group and you as a member

• Why you are thankful for the OPTP

   You don’t have to answer all of these questions – this just gives you an idea of what we’re looking for. We’ll give you a day or two heads up of when your video will be posted to our Facebook pages so that you can share it with your friends and family and help spread the word about the OPTP and BlueBird Theatre.

   We can’t wait to hear – and share – your stories. Break a leg!
